Balanga: In a bizarre incident, a man was left in lurch after his newly-wed bride reportedly eloped with her boyfriend just five days after the marriage.
The incident was reported from Mohapatra Sahi of Balanga in Puri district.
According to sources, the woman, Bulbuli (name changed) of Mohapatra Sahi, had been in a romantic relationship with Bhagirathi Biswal of Nadia Garadi village.
However, her family members were against the relationship and forced her to marry Sanjeev Kumar Das, a resident of Hamirpur Sector 19 in Rourkela against her wish.
Her marriage was solemnised five days back in the presence of her family members. A day before the fourth night, the woman behaved strangely as if she was possessed by the evil spirit. Bulbuli’s in-laws took her to a tantrik. However, her condition did not improve. Later, her parents took her to their home in Mohapatra Sahi.
When Bulbuli started behaving normally Sunday, her father called up her husband and asked him to take her back. When she learnt that her husband had reached Bhubaneswar and was coming to take her back, Bulbuli somehow managed to come out of her home.
Later, she called up her lover and eloped with him.
The woman’s father lodged a complaint in this regard at Balanga police station. On the other hand, the woman’s husband also approached the police seeking justice.
