Paradip: The much awaited science park, having more than 85 science projects, here near the marine drive road in this port town would be opened for public from May 30, municipality office sources said.
Though the park was to be inaugurated May 11, the finer touches couldn’t be given due to thunder shower triggered by Nor’wester of past several days, it was learnt.
Apart from 85 varieties of science projects, the bust of famous scientists would be installed inside the park to encourage the students. The park will be known as one of the most attractive sites of the town, claimed officials.
According to reports, the infrastructure development of the town got slowed down in last few years due to the dual administration (Centre-Paradip Port administration and district administration) system.
However, both the administration launched a drive in the name of ‘Ama Paradip’ (Our Paradip) under which several projects were taken up for the beautification of the town.
Some of the significant projects undertaken include – facelift of both sides of river bank, attractive installations on beach, clean foot path, open air gym, two children parks, sculpture of aquatic animals, Biju Minar, museum and bright illumination of the town. The under-construction science park is part of the drive.
Besides, there is a plan in place to set up a five-star hotel and Idco tower to attract more footfalls to the town, said the district officials.
