BDA mulls to scrap pact with Sun Tech

Bhubaneswar, July 9: Sun Tech Pvt Ltd was found responsible for the mismanagement of NICCO Park, said Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) vice-chairman Krishan Kumar here Wednesday.
A letter in this regard has been sent to the special secretary of the GA department, he added, saying, the civic body is seriously thinking to cancel the agreement with the private company for violating the norms.
Accusing the private firm of blatantly violating the BDA norms, Krishan Kumar said it has been putting the land to wrong use.
Three girls were injured in a mishap in NICCO Park June 14.
The BDA City Centre is managed by Sun Tech Private Ltd. The agreement was entered March 17, 2007 between BDA and Sun Tech to set up an amusement park .
BDA acquired about 24.128 acres of land known as ‘Lake Area’ in Madhusudan Nagar in the city for the creation of the park and floated a company in the name of BDA-NICCO Parks and Resorts Ltd with an authorised share capital of `2 crore with equity shares of `10 each.
As per the agreement, the GA department has the right of resumption of the land in case the joint sector company fails. According to the agreement, in the event of a failure of the venture, the state government will have the right to replace the co-promoters Sun Tech and NICC0.
