Bhubaneswar, July 7: Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has decided to hire eminent lawyers to fight BDA’s land-encroachment and disputes-related cases.
BDA officials told Orissa Post the authorities have decided to take legal assistance from eminent lawyers who will be hired to fight cases involving hi-profile land disputes and encroachment cases in the Supreme Court and High Court.
The officials said evicting an encroacher in the city has become a difficult task. Several land sharks have taken the BDA to courts hampering development works in the city due to legal disputes causing inordinate delays. In an effort to act tough against encroachments by builders, the BDA has decided to launch a crackdown in the city till July 16.
BDA and other civic bodies will jointly conduct demolition drives on illegal encroachments, they added. BDA has also planned to evict all encroachments in and around busy Kalpana square and Ashok Nagar market area.
Illegal constructions by residents and builders on public land such as parking lots will be pulled down soon and some land may be given to the Railways for development.
