Bra Temple–where women donate inner wear

‘Bra Temple’, where women donate inner wear

Tokyo: We have heard of people donating crores of money or gold ornaments for the deities in temples. However, there is a temple in Tokyo where women donate their inner wears.

It might sound a bit awkward, but is true. The temple is popularly known as the ‘Bra Temple’. One can see hundreds of feminine underwear strewn across the ceilings and walls of the rooms of the temple. While no exact reason of the underwear being donated to the temple has been known yet, history suggests that it was supposedly left to deliver a ‘Curse’.

So, people started donating bras with a photo or name attatched along with a parchment dictating a scathing curse.

First believed to have been placed by a group between 2010 and 2016 who resented their yoga instructor for poor practices, the trend continued, and more garments were added to the collection.

The targets of the curse are believed to receive bitter consequences or devastation for wrongdoings. Because the temple were once the location of fraud and deceit, it is believed a curse on someone who has commit a wrongdoing doubles the effectiveness of any spiritual consequences to that person.
