Bhubaneswar: The state government is committed to providing accessible and efficient legal services to the citizens at their doorstep, said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while inaugurating the Civil Judge (senior division)-cum-Assistant Sessions Judge Court in Ganjam’s Hinjilicut Monday.
Patnaik, along with Orissa High Court Chief Justice S Muralidhar, inaugurated the court on a virtual platform.
“Today, a longstanding aspiration of the people of Hinjilicut has been fulfilled. This is a major step towards providing access to justice for the people of Hinjilicut. The state government is committed to providing accessible and efficient legal services to our citizens at the doorstep,” Patnaik said.
The CM added, “I am sure that the people of Hinjilicut, especially the poor and weaker sections of society, will have advantage in having this legal facility closer to their homes.”
The CM hoped that the lawyers of Ganjam will make use of the facility to its fullest, and reach out to the litigants to provide justice and fairness.
Speaking on the occasion from Cuttack, the Orissa High Court Chief Justice said that the HC and judiciary have been taking initiatives in order to ensure expeditious delivery of justice. The HC did not close down even during the Covid-19 pandemic, he added.
Specifying the steps, the Orissa HC Chief Justice said, opening of new courts, appointment of judicial officers, use of technology and rationalisation of cases in different courts and many other steps have been taken to improve the performance of the judicial system.
He thanked the CM and Odisha government for their relentless support towards opening new courts.
