Kendrapara: An Armed Police Reserve (APR) constable allegedly made an attempt to rape a 21-year-old girl at Dahalapur village under Patkura police limits Sunday.
According to a complaint lodged by the girl, the constable Santosh Mahali entered her house after finding her alone in the morning and tried to rape her. When the victim shouted for help, her minor sister rushed to the spot.
The accused allegedly threatened the girls with dire consequences if they reported the matter to the police. However, as some locals gathered at the house of the victim, the accused fled the scene.
A case was registered, while the accused was yet to be arrested, said Patkura IIC Sujit Pradhan.
