Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 48 fresh cases of COVID-19 Monday, taking the state’s total to 876.
The new cases are from Jajpur (16), Ganjam (15), Kendrapara (3), Nayagarh (3), Kandhamal (2), Boudh (1), Cuttack (1), Khordha (1).
Out of the 48, six were reported late Sunday night – two from Puri and four from Balangir. With two infected, the district of Kandhamal which was unaffected in the pandemic registered its maiden cases. Out of Odisha’s 30 districts, 23 have now registered COVID-19 patients.
47 of the 48 new cases are lodged in different quarantine centres in the state while one was reported to be in Puri jail.
The number of active cases in the state now stands at 652 while the number of recovered patients now stands at 220. Only four people have died due to the coronavirus disease.
Ganjam remains the district with the highest number of positive cases at 307.
