Cuttack, Dec 25: DAV Public School, CDA defeated Pyari Mohan Academy (PMA) by 44 runs in the final to emerge champions of the BC Parida Memorial Inter-School cricket tournament at the Sunshine Ground here Thursday.
Batting first, DAV were bundled out for 113 runs in 19.3 overs. Barring Opener Subhasis Behera (59, 50b, 8×4), no other batsman could
score anything substantial. Lead by SK Sarfaraj Bux (2/12), PMA bowlers Chandra Sekhar Sahoo (2/15) and Kapil Khan (2/32) did a reasonable job to put the opposition batters under check.
In reply, PMA batters were never on the chase as they batted without purpose and scored at a snail’s pace. They could manage only 69 runs in the allotted 20 overs, getting all out in the process. Amit Kumar Das (3/12) and Dikhyant Nayak (3/15) were the peak of the bowlers.
Brief scores: DAV 113 (Subashis Behera 59; SK Sarfaraj Bux 2/12) beat PMA 69 (Amit Kumar Dash 3/12, Dikhyant Nayak 3/15) by 44 runs.
