Berhampur: Family members of an elderly woman who died while undergoing treatment at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here have alleged negligence on the part of the medical staff. The allegation was made by the elder daughter of the family.
Sources said K Jayana of Chamakhandi area was suffering from spondylosis. She was staying with her elder daughter at Lanjipali here.
After her condition deteriorated, she was admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, April 22. The doctors advised operation and allegedly demanded Rs 2,000 as bribe for the same.
The deceased’s daughter Laxmi said they had given the doctors Rs 1,000. “As we had not given the full money they demanded, the doctors did not conduct any operation and caused my mother’s death,” she alleged.
