Four bodies recovered from Mahanadi

Kujang: In a heart rendering incident, the bodies of a woman and her three minor children were recovered from the Mahanadi river near a Shani temple at Jagnnathpur village under this block in Jagatsinghpur district Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Mamali Sethy, widow of Biswambhar Sethy, and her two minor daughters Varsha (9) and Lipsa (8) and son Guna (2). The tragic incident comes a month after Biswambhar died in a road mishap.
A villager noticed the bodies floating in the river while bathing and informed alerted others in Jagannathpur before passing on the information to the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force, fire personnel and police, who recovered the bodies from the river. Later, police sent the bodies to the local hospital for autopsy.
As the victims’ house remained locked for the past few days, villagers were of the view that the family might have gone to their relative’s place. While the police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the death of the woman and her three children, Mamali’s brother has filed a complaint with the local police alleging that the family members were murdered to usurp their property.
