Keonjhar: Vigilance sleuths Friday arrested a Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a beneficiary to provide a house under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMGAY).
She has been identified as Chinmayee Jyotsnamayee Muni, GRS of Kandarapashi gram panchayat under Sadar block in this district.
According to reports, Bipin Mahakud’s wife had obtained a house under PMGAY. However, Chinmayee demanded Rs 1,000 to provide the work order. Though the couple expressed their inability to give the bribe, Chinmayee threatened that she would not give the work order.
Later, the couple approached the vigilance and narrated their ordeal. As per the plan, the couple took chemical-laced notes of Rs 1,000 and handed it over to Chinmayee.
Meanwhile, vigilance officials disguised in plain clothes conducted a raid and arrested her. Simultaneous raids were on at the officer’s office, quarters and ancestral residence while filing this report.
