Daringbadi: Tension ran high at a Government High School here in Kandhamal district after a Class VIII girl was allegedly molested by the school headmaster Monday.
The matter came to the fore after the victim’s father lodged a written complaint with Daringbadi police. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and a probe is on, Daringbadi IIC Tusharkant Mahapatra said.
According to the complainant, the girl got admission in Class VI back in 2016. She resides in the school hostel and now studies in Class VIII.
On the pretext of work, the HM allegedly called the girl to his quarters and made her do his household chores April 22. Taking advantage of this, the HM then molested the girl. In a bid to save her life, the girl ran out of the hostel and left for bus-stand to take a bus to her village.
Since then the girl has been in a mental shock, her father alleged. He demanded a probe and action against the HM. The incident sparked tension in the area. Locals condemned lack of safety in government run hostels and demanded action against the accused HM.
