post news network, Bhubaneswar, July 15: The foundation stone of the proposed cultural activities complex, ‘Kala Mandal’, which will have 11 sections and is set to come up near the Sainik School, Gajapati Nagar, will be laid after the Nabakalebara festival, said the commissioner-cum-secretary of Department of Tourism and Culture, Arvind Padhee, in the presence of the tourism minister Ashok Chandra Panda, during a programme held in the Bhanja Kala Mandap, recently.
“As all know, we are going to inaugurate the art gallery, titled ‘Buddha Art Gallery’, at the Buddha Jayanti Park, keeping in mind the needs of the eminent as well as the local artists of the state and region. Similarly, the cultural department has come up with the idea to set up a new complex, which will be more advanced than the
existing auditoriums,” said Padhee.
“The foundation stone of the Rs45cr project will be laid after the Nabakalebara festival in the 6-acre area in the city. The complex will have several auditoriums of great seating capacity,” said an official of the department.
Kala Mandal will be a one-stop destination for all cultural activities of the state. Lalit Kala Mandal, art and handicraft museum, artist’s village etc., will be part of the 11 sections in the complex.
