Bhubaneswar: The Web page of city-based Kamala Nehru Women’s College was hacked by an unknown hacker ‘pseudonym Dik4h4nZ’ Sunday. The hacker has only hacked the home page of the website and replaced it with the Web page of a popular porn site. When a user clicks on the home page of the college website, it leads the user to the porn site.
When contacted, the college principal Pradipta Kumar Mishra told Orissa POST, “I came to know about the hacking incident only after receiving calls from the media. As we have no expertise in dealing with such cases, I have asked one of our staff to register a formal complaint with the Cyber police station in this regard.”
The District Education Officer of Kamala Nehru Women’s College Rati Kanta Behera said, “The higher authorities in our college will soon take action on the hacking incidence. We will also seek the help of Cyber security experts and police.”
An officer of the state Cyber Crime Cell said, “Investigators will probe the matter after receiving a complaint from the college authorities. Hackers normally use other IP addresses by masking their own. It is a lengthy affair to track the culprit, as the hacker might be operating from another country.” Notably, websites of several educational institutions in the state that had been hacked recently and later secured are also vulnerable to such threats.
