Man carries daughter’s body in trolley for post-mortem

Post-mortem

Balasore: A daily wage earner was forced to carry his daughter’s body in a trolley rickshaw to the hospital for post-mortem due to a lack of financial resources and official support. Madhu Bindhani, a resident of Bindhani Sahi in Deula panchayat under Baliapal police station limits, transported his daughter’s body in a trolley for nearly 6 km from his house to the Community Health Centre (CHC) for autopsy. According to Bindhani, his daughter had a history of psychiatric issues. Her body was found hanging from a tree in the village.

Upon being informed, the local police arrived at the scene and, after a preliminary inquiry, instructed Bindhani to take the body to the CHC for post-mortem. As he could not afford the cost of an ambulance, Bindhani said he had no choice but to use a trolley to carry his daughter’s body. The incident sparked widespread outrage among locals, who alleged that the police failed in their duty by not arranging proper transportation
