Soro: A villager was hacked to death by his younger brother over a family feud in Talanagar under Soro police limits Tuesday night. The deceased was Rama Chandra Barik and the accused was his younger brother Krushna Chandra Barik. The two were sons of Jogendra Barik.
A heated argument occurred between Ramachandra and his younger brother Krushna Tuesday night. Things took an ugly turn. Krushna took an iron rod and attacked Rama. Losing his cool, Krushna hit Rama with a billhook.
Some neighbours reached the spot and got the two to stop the quarrel. After this, Rama left his home for some work.
Krushna was still angry. Later at night, he attacked Rama once again with the billhook. Family members rescued Rama with head injuries and rushed him to the Soro government medical college. From there, he was referred to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. There, Rama died while undergoing treatment.
The incident caused tension in the village. Angry locals overpowered Krushna and thrashed him black and blue. He was detained throughout the night and handed over to the police in the morning Wednesday .
Police registered a case and arrested the accused. The body was sent for post-mortem while a probe has been initiated.
