Maoist posters warn corrupt babus of trial in Praja Court

Malkangiri: Maoist posters carrying a warning against corrupt babus resurfaced in Chitrakonda block of the district on Tuesday , sending scare down the spines of the large number of corrupt government employees here.

Red posters released in the name of Kalimela Area Committee of outlawed CPI (Maoist) group were sighted on the walls at several places including Badenga Square and Gunthabeda Square under Kalimela Tehsil. These posters highlighted the irregularities and corruption in the Rural Development Department.

In a poster on the wall of a bus stop at Badenga Square, the red rebels warned against the objectionable activities of the Rural Development Department JE and SDO. It said the two were allowing substandard works under various projects in the district by taking “Percentage Commission (PC)” from contractors.

The Maoists threatened them they would be dragged to the ‘Praja Court’ for a trial in the coming days.

Police started a combing operation in the Chitrakonda cut-off area and adjoining places following the appearance of posters. Notably, many people who are irritated over the freewheeling corrupt practices of government officials here appeared enthused at the sight of the posters.
