MoU inked to aid education of IAF personnel, their wards

Bhubaneswar: In order to facilitate higher education opportunities for currently serving and retired Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel, as well as their wards in both engineering and medical programmes, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT)-DU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Air Force (IAF) here Friday.

The agreement was formalised between Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Education), Air Vice Marshal Harjit S Sidana and KIIT-DU Vice Chancellor Saranjit Singh.

The pact aims to offer significant educational benefits, including concessions in tuition fees for wards of serving and retired IAF personnel. In addition, fee exemption and support will be extended to the wards of personnel who lost their lives during service. Admissions will be subject to eligibility criteria such as NEET for medical and dental programmes and KIIT Entrance Examination (KIITEE) for engineering and other courses.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh said, “The main objective of the MoU is to ensure quality education and financial support for the wards of Indian Air Force personnel.

This collaboration also paves the way for joint initiatives between KIIT and the education wing of the Indian Air Force in R&D projects and development of short-term educational programmes.” On the sidelines of the signing ceremony, IAF officials also paid a courtesy visit to KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta and lauded his vision for inclusive education and the nation-building process
