No clue on JCB operators trapped in stone quarry

Two JCB operators trapped

Jeypore: There is no clue yet on the fate of two JCB operators trapped under a heap of rubble near Bariput village in Borrigumma block of Koraput district. There, though, is no hope of their survival. The mishap occurred May 31.

The joint operation by the NDRF, ODRAF and the Fire Brigade to locate or rescue the two JCB operators, which continued on the fourth day, has not helped.

Family members of the two operators— Ghanashyam Guru of Deogarh and Sanjay Dash of Athagarh area in Cuttack district  — are having a hard time. Reports suggested the sisters of Sanjay Dash were fearful of revealing the fate of their brother to their mother with a heart problem, for fear she might collapse and die.

Sanjay was the sole bread-earner of the family. He had shouldered the whole responsibility of upkeep of his elderly mother and sisters.

The district administration was hopeful that the two trapped JCB operators could be rescued or located Monday after it had requisitioned two high-powered cranes and a JCB machine for the rescue operation.

The rescue operations resumed in the morning in the presence of Koraput sub-collector, the Borigumma SDPO, the water resources officials and some senior cops.
