Odisha registers 2,074 new Covid-19 cases; 65 more fatalities

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 2,074 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 9,45,749. The active caseload in the state now stands at 22,860. Out of the 2,074 new infections, 1,192 were reported from quarantine centres while 882 persons contracted the virus locally.

Odisha reported 65 new fatalities as of Tuesday taking total tally in the state to 4,795 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Wednesday morning.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new Covid-19 cases with 443 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 283 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Angul (59), Balasore (115), Bargarh (38), Bhadrak (110), Bolangir (17), Boudh (12), Deogarh (3), Dhenkanal (61), Gajapati (3), Ganjam (5), Jagatsinghpur (99), Jajpur (120), Jharsuguda (5), Kalahandi (5), Kandhamal (19), Kendrapara (58), Keonjhar (46), Koraput (10), Malkangiri (47), Mayurbhanj (115), Nabarangpur (10), Nayagarh (58), Nuapada (4), Puri (133), Rayagada (16), Sambalpur (30), Subarnapur (9) and Sundargarh (56).

The State Pool reported 85 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,47,72,938 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 2,641.
