Odisha shines at IndiaSkills eastern region competition

Bhubaneswar: The four-day IndiaSkills Regional Competition 2025–26 for the eastern region concluded at the SDI Auditorium Monday.

Organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with support from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the event saw over 200 youths from Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands compete in 59 skill categories.

The competition featured a wide range of skills, including cloud computing, electronics, mobile app development and web technologies, as well as hospitality, beauty therapy, fashion technology and welding.

Odisha topped the winners’ list, reflecting the state’s focused investment in skill development, followed by Bihar and West Bengal. A total of 169 outstanding performers were awarded medals at the event, including 53 gold, 48 silver and 31 bronze medals, along with 37 Medallions for Excellence.

Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, said the IndiaSkills Regional Competition 2025–26 in the eastern region reflected the rising aspirations and capabilities of the country’s youth.

Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said the Skill India Mission provides individuals with meaningful opportunities to showcase their skills on a global stage.

Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj congratulated the winners across diverse skill categories, praising their dedication, discipline and excellence.
