Bhawanipatna: Tension ran high at Chancher near Kesinga in Kalahandi district Friday morning following the death of an old man after being hit by a bus.
The deceased was identified as Rengasa Harijan.
Demanding compensation for the deceased’s family, the locals staged a road blockade, disrupting traffic on the Borigumma-Bargarh road. Police reached the spot and tried to placate the agitators.
The bus hit the man while he was walking down the National Highway 26.
