post news network, Bhubaneswar, July 8: Centre for Post Graduate Studies (CPGS) of the Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) celebrated its 10th annual function with much pomp and gaiety on their campus here in the city, Wednesday.
The programme kicked off with a devotional song presented by the CPGS students.
Pradeep Maharathy, minister of agriculture, fisheries and animal resources development, Orissa, Pradip Kumar Amat, minister of finance and public enterprises, Orissa, and other dignitaries, including vice chancellor of OUAT, Manaranjan Kar, and staff attended the programme.
“Students are very active to hold such programmes in our institution. They had been doing outstanding activities for the last ten years. I wish them all the best and suggest they carry on with such activities in future too,” said Manaranjan Kar.
As many as 25 students of CPGS were given prizes for their exceptional performance in the various competitions earlier held in connection with the event.
The president of the students’ union, Prabhu Kalyan Rath, congratulated the winners. “The major objective of holding such a programme was to encourage the participants. In fact, students were much inspired after being awarded by the minister. I am thankful to the ministers for attending the programme,” said Rath.
A book on the Nabakalebara festival was also unveiled by the dignitaries during the programme.
An array of cultural activities was performed by the students after the felicitation ceremony. Students exhibited their hidden talents and emotions through dances representing all corners of the nation. The Odissi dance, performed by the students, was dedicated to all the staff of their institution.
