Bhubaneswar: The Sainik School Banchao Alia Gada Hatao campaign Sunday announced plans to gherao the regional office of the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) at Chandaka Industrial Area near Patia September 22.
The protest targets the Board’s alleged inaction and complicity regarding the illegal Gadakana dumping yard operating on Sainik School land.
The campaign alleged that the Gadakana dumping yard has, for the past 22 years, caused severe environmental and health hazards, affecting over half of Bhubaneswar’s population, including thousands of students from institutions like Sainik School and Utkal University at Vani Vihar.

Members claimed that more than 20 acres of Sainik School land have been illegally encroached for dumping, leading to unbearable stench, pollution, respiratory and skin ailments, and potential cancer risks.
