Jajpur: Barely hours before the repoll at booth number 135 in Kalyanpur village under Binjharpur Assembly constituency in this district, pre-poll violence Saturday night has left one seriously injured.
The victim has been identified as Ranjit Das of Kalyanpur. Unidentified miscreants attacked him on his head with sharp weapons and fled the spot.
He was rescued while bleeding profusely and was immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
While Binjharpur police have launched an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the attack and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants, the violence has had its negative impact on the voters Sunday, some alleged.
