Pugmarks trigger alarm

Deogarh: Panic gripped Riamal forest region in Deogarh after pugmarks of a tiger were spotted for the first time, confirming suspicions that a big cat has been roaming the area for the past several days. The pugmarks were found near Jharamunda forest, close to Babaji Math village. Following the discovery, the Forest Department collected samples of the pugmarks and sent them for verification by a special expert team.

Although reports of tiger movement in Riamal forests had reached the department earlier, this is the first physical evidence. To monitor the animal’s activities, the department has installed trap cameras at multiple locations. A dedicated team has also been formed, and regular patrolling is being conducted in the affected area.
