Balangir: The SIT team of state crime branch (CB), probing the sensational Patnagarh wedding gift blast case, took accued Punjilal Meher to Raipur in Chhattisgarh for a spot verification Thursday.
It had been stated that Punjilal sent the parcel bomb via Skyking courier centre in Raipur. Two teams of the state crime branch took the accused to collect more evidence. This being a rare case, the probe team is doing its best to collect evidence against accused Punjilal Meher, who worked as English lecturer at the Jyoti Vikash Junior College at Bhainsa.
In a bid to distract the probing team from the actual plot, Punjilal had written an anonymous letter to the Bolangir SP, suggesting that the parcel bomb was the result of a jilted love affair. The probe team forwarded the letter to the Gandhinagar-based central forensic science laboratory (CFSL). This was for verification of the fingerprint of the accused.
The Crime Branch has decided to videograph the entire investigation during the second phase of Punjilal’s remand.
