Udala: The owner of Monalisha Academy, a day-cum-residential coaching centre, at Udala in Mayurbhanj district, has been arrested on charges of sexually harassing the female boarders.

The arrest came two days after several students of the private hostel lodged a written complaint with the police, accusing the owner of repeatedly subjecting them to inappropriate physical contact.

Sources said, some students had informed their families about the harassment by owner Bishikeshan Gochhayat at Monalisha Academy located in Ward No. 3 under Udala police limits.

Following this, the family members enquired into the allegations from their wards at the private hostel and sought to meet Gochhayat.

However, he had already absconded.

The victims’ families then approached Udala police and filed a written complaint against him.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case (348/25) and launched an investigation.

During the probe, officers attempted to apprehend Gochhayat on several occasions, but he managed to evade arrest.

The investigation also revealed that the accused had a prior criminal record.

In 2015, he had been arrested in another sexual harassment case (19/15) registered at Badasahi police station.
