Bhadrak: Vigilance sleuths Tuesday arrested the Bhadrak forest division ranger on a charge of accepting a bribe of Rs 9,500 from a furniture store owner. He was Prafulla Kumar Sahu.
It is learnt that Sahu conducted a raid at the store of Jayantilal Patel and demanded a bribe. After bargaining, the amount was fixed at Rs 9,500. Patel quietly informed the Vigilance department about this and they acted swiftly.
Patel, as directed by the Vigilance office, took a chemical-laced bunch of notes and handed this over to Sahu in his office. Vigilance officials disguised in plainclothes walked in and seized the notes from Sahu. Simultaneous raids on Sahu’s residence and office followed.
