Tihidi: Tension gripped Chilapada in Kanpada panchayat under this block in Bhadrak Sunday over alleged rape and murder of a minor girl. The body of the 15-year old girl was found hanging from a tree in a desolate place at Dapa Saturday.
After post-mortem, bereaved family members along with locals lay her body at the police station and clamoured for immediate arrest of the accused.
Following the agitation, police swung into action and arrested the main accused Nukhura Das, a resident of Mathasahi from Aradi. Nukhura was accused of kidnapping the girl Friday night.
Two others – Umakant Das and Chhuti Das – were accused of hatching a conspiracy and killing the girl.
The victim’s father Ramesh Mallick had lodged a complaint with the police station that his 15-year-old daughter was kidnapped from his house Friday night, raped and murdered.
