Sital Sasthi preparations at last stage

Sambalpur: The preparation for Sital Sasthi, which marks the divine marriage of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati, has reached its final stages in Sambalpur.

Mohan Supkar and his wife Sanjukta will perform the role of Parvati’s parents this year. They are very happy to receive the opportunity to perform the rituals and working overnight to see all preparations are completed before the grand wedding of their daughter next week.

“We are eagerly waiting for the marriage and all the preparations from decorations to buying ornaments and other articles have been completed,” said Sanjukta.

The pre-wedding rituals including sending invitation cards have been done. Besides, every possible measure is being taken to ensure the marriage is completed in a grand way.

It is worth mentioning that the major attraction of Sital Sasthi festival is the grand carnival, also known as the home coming procession of the divine couple-Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to their respective temples after completion of the divine marriage.

As per tradition, several dying folk dance forms of Western Odisha, tableaux on various social issues and characters will also be displayed during the carnival by the several committees during the three-day festival.
