Bhubaneswar: Revenue collection jumped by around 15 per cent in the state, while expenditure in different programmes rose by 23 per cent up to July this fiscal, showing an upward trend in the state’s fiscal performance. “Fiscal performances of the state till July showed an upward trend with simultaneous increase in both utilisation of budget allocations and revenue augmentation,” said an official statement after a review in an all-secretaries meeting chaired by chief secretary AP Padhi here.
Expenditure in various programmes up to July, 2017, recorded an increase of around 23 per cent in comparison to last year. The programme expenditure increased to Rs 16,305 crore by the end of July 2017 compared to `13,209 crore during the same period last year, it said.
A review of the fiscal performance revealed an overall increase of around 8 per cent in the total budget utilisation up to July this year in comparison to the corresponding period of last fiscal. Total expenditure up to July, 2017 was around `26,921crore against `24,918crore up to July, 2016.
The Expenditure in Agriculture & Allied sector was around `4,327crore, an increase of over 22 per cent over the corresponding period last fiscal. The expenditure in this sector mainly includes the programmes being executed under the departments of Agriculture & Farmers welfare, Water Resources, Fisheries & Animal Resource Development and Cooperation.
Budget utilisation in social sector has been of `7,154crore up to July the current year against a total spending of `4,693 crore during the same period of last financial year thereby showing an increase of around 52 per cent.
Own Tax revenue has grown by around 12 per cent with a total collection of Rs 7,552crore and Non-Tax Revenue by around 26 per cent with total collection of `2,214 crore.
