Soro: Tension ran high at Dhani village under Sabira panchayat of this block in Balasore district after the body of a youth was found on railway tracks under an over-bridge Monday.
The deceased was Sashikant Mallick (19), son of Ramakant Mallick of the same village. Family members alleged it was a pre-planned murder. They suspect the killing was done elsewhere and the body dumped on the railway tracks to mislead the police into believing it was a train mishap.
Ramakant went to drop his brother-in-law Sunday night at the local bus stand. He did not return home. Family members launched a frantic search in and around the village and spotted his mutilated body on a nearby railway track later in the night.
“We suspect that our son was murdered by someone. His bike was seen parked near the Udanta Pola, the over-bridge under which he was found dead,” said the deceased’s mother.
Police sent the body for autopsy in the morning. An investigation is under way.
