Balasore/Binjharpur: A boy ended his life while two girls attempted suicide Sunday after they failed to clear the recently released Plus II (Science) examination.
A Plus II science student committed suicide after he failed to make a cut in the CHSE results at Kanachanda village under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur district Sunday.
According to sources, Dilip Das, son of Bidhan Das, was a student of Plus II science at NC College and had appeared for his final exams. However, he was under stress after he failed to qualify in the exam and took the extreme step.
While family members were sleeping after dinner, he hanged himself in a room. Family members rescued Dilip and admitted him to the district headquarters hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Similarly, two girls allegedly attempted suicide in Soro area of Balasore district after their failed in clearing Plus II examinations the results of which were declared Saturday. Both the students were rushed to Soro community health centre in critical condition.
A student of Talanagar Science College tried to kill herself by consuming poison in a nearby field near her house at Pathanapada in the district.
In another case, a girl studying in Upendranath College attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance after she failed to clear the examination. She was rescued by her family members and hospitalised. Her condition is said to be critical.
Earlier, Rajesh Kumar Panda (19) of Gayatri Nagar under Bada Bazaar police limits in Berhampur of Ganjam district had immolated himself May 17 in fear of failure in the exam for the third time in a row. However, to everyone’s surprise, the poor boy cracked his examination and secured 50.3 per cent.
Similarly, Anurag Kumar Sethi, a student of Christ College in Cuttack and a native of Rayagada had ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan just a day before the results were declared.
