Class XI girl found dead; family cries rape, murder

Kamakhyanagar: A college girl, who had been missing since Wednesday, was found dead with multiple injuries across her body in a forest in Dhenkanal district Thursday morning, with her family alleging that she was raped before being murdered.

The girl, a resident under the Bhuban police limits, was a Class XI student at a local college.

According to family sources, she did not return home after attending an examination at her college Wednesday. Relatives conducted a search throughout the night, but to no avail.

However, locals found her body, bearing multiple physical injuries, in a forest and alerted the police early Thursday morning.

Dhenkanal SP Abhinav Sonkar, along with Kamakhyanagar SDPO Rajani Kant Samal and IIC Jeetendra Kumar Mallick, reached the spot and conducted a probe. A forensic team was also deployed.

Later, the victim’s family filed a formal complaint with the police, reportedly alleging rape and murder.

Kamakhyanagar police registered a case (191/26) under multiple sections of the BNS.

The SP said that the police are conducting the investigation from various angles.
