Bhubaneswar, Feb 14: The state government has issued a warning to all the 30 district project coordinators (DPC) over the tardiness in the construction of toilets in schools in their respective districts.
In its letter to the DPCs, the state has express regrets over the status of the work in the schools.
The letter to the DPCs said that the despite several meetings being held and many orders being issued, many of the districts have performed poorly in the commission of the project.
The districts had been asked to construct new toilets or repair dysfunctional ones in the schools for which funds have already been raised. The deadline for the completion of the project was January 2015. However, many of the district authorities have not yet completed the project.
The government has finally issued a revised deadline of March 2015 for the completion of the construction work of
the toilets.
The government has warned that if the March deadline is not met strict disciplinary action such as stoppage of salary and initiation of departmental proceedings against the DPCs, will be taken.
The DPCs have been asked to monitor the project status by visiting schools on a regular basis and have been allowed to involve other officials such as the block education officers for inspection.
