Bhadrak: A woman was critically burnt after she set herself afire over a family feud at Edtal panchayat under Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district.
According to a report, Sasmita had married Bijay Kumar six years ago after a courtship. Sasmita’s parents alleged that she was physically and mentally tortured by her in-laws for dowry. Upset over this, she took the extreme step Friday, they family said.
Some villagers saw Sasmita’s house on fire and rescued her. She was admitted to Basudevpur CHC and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
She was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as her condition worsened. Sasmita’s father lodged a police complaint.
