Nai Roshini: Orissa submits 13 proposals

New Delhi: The Ministry of Minority Affairs Tuesday in a statement in the Rajya Sabha said that the ministry has received a total of 13 proposals online under the ‘Nai Roshini’ scheme from Orissa, meant for empowering the women from the minority classes.
The ministry informed about the status through a written statement submitted before the Upper House when a query was made earlier by Congress MP Ranjib Biswal on the status of the scheme in Orissa. Biswal had asked about the number of applications received online from the state.
Responding to the query, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, “The Ministry of Minority Affairs has received 13 proposals from the Orissa government on the Online Application Management System portal of Nai Roshni, the scheme for leadership development of women belonging to minority communities and for empanelment of organizations as Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) for the years 2017-20.”
The minister added that out of these 13 proposals, seven PIAs, having recommendation of the respective states and complete in all respect, had been empanelled for imparting training to 975 women in Orissa during the 2017-19. Naqvi further said that the process for release of funds had already started. On receipt of the grants-in-aid, the PIA has to mobilise the trainees and conduct the training.
