Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri Police arrested three persons, including a woman and seized 22 grams of brown sugar during a raid near Ramamani Petrol Pump at Baramunda in the early hours of Tuesday.
Acting on credible intelligence, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
The information suggested that one woman, identified as Rina Jena (42) and two men, identified as Deepak Sahoo and Balram Sahoo) were waiting near the petrol pump to sell brown sugar.
A special police team conducted a raid at the spot.

On noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee but were chased and apprehended.
During the personal search, police recovered brown sugar from their possession and also seized cash from Rina Jena.
On weighing, 12 grams of brown sugar were recovered from Rina, 5 grams from Deepak and 5 grams from Balaram.
A motorcycle used in the crime was also seized.
During preliminary investigation, it was revealed that Rina was involved in three previous NDPS cases, Balaram has five previous criminal cases, while Deepak was involved in two earlier criminal cases.
As prima facie evidence under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act was established, all three accused were arrested and produced before the court.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
