Bhubaneswar, Sept 16: In a bid to boost poultry farming, the state government has exempted stamp duty on purchase of land and conversion charges of agricultural field to homestead land meant for poultry farming, sources said Friday.
According to official sources, the state government had introduced Orissa poultry policy in 2015 with an objective of producing 100 lakh eggs per day and one lakh tonne of poultry meat annually.
The policy has also made provision for exemption of stamp duty for conversion of agricultural land for the purpose of poultry farming. However, recently, the revenue and disaster management department has issued formal orders to this effect, the sources said.
The implementation of the policy will require a farmer to simply submit an application in the prescribed form to a designated officer for conversion of any agricultural land belonging to him for the purpose of poultry farming. There is no need to deposit fee or money in this connection, they said. The move would help boost poultry farming in the state.
Besides, the government has been providing incentives like lower electricity tariff, exemption of VAT, upper cap of `75 lakh for establishment of poultry farm and `50 lakh for establishment of broiler farms and other benefits including capital investment subsidy under the policy.
The government is hopeful that with the implementation of the revised policy, it would meet the target of producing 1 lakh eggs per day, the sources added.
